Let's all contribute to reducing the amount of road accidents!!!

You can also take part!

If you are a student and you are interested in preventing road accidents. And if you believe that all of us together can  eradicate this problem?

In proportion to our population Greece is at the top of the scale concerning car accidents in Europe

You can help lower these Numbers by taking part!!!

As a group as a class  or alone  at the 5th International Students Multimedia Competition organized by the Region of Crete, Municipality of Chania, the municipality of Platanias and Kissamos, the municipality of  Kandanos-Selinou, the municipality of Sfakia and the municipality of Apokoronas, the Business  Chamber of Chania , the Bus co. Of Chania-Rethymnon, the Chania Public Buses, the Association of truck owners, the Association of Taxi owners of Chania, the E.O.V.E Chania and National Association of Relief and Solidarity for the Victims of Traffic Accidents in the Region of Crete “Saint Christophoros”. This will allow you to pass the message of road safety to the world.

The final selection will result in 15 winners, 3 for each category of the competition.

You can submit your entries between: from Monday  6/5/2019 at 09.00 till Friday 31/1/2020 at 24.00
The audience can vote: from Saturday 1/2/2020 at 09.00 till Sunday 21/2/2020 at 24.00
The judging  of projects will take place: form Monday 22/2/2019 at 09.00 till Sunday 5/3/2020 at 24.00
Winners will be Announced on: on Monday 6/3/2020 at 16.00
The Award Ceremony  will take place: on Friday 20/3/2020

Greece ranks first for car crashes

Greece ranks first for road accidents out of  27 countries of the European Union.Eastern Macedonia, Thrace, Western Macedonia, the Peloponnese and Central Greece are among the most deadly regions of the European Union. These areas, according to a European surveys, are considered dangerous on the basis of the people who are potentially killed each year per million vehicles traveling on their roads.

According to figures, Eighth place in the European Union is held by Epirus, the ninth place in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace and the tenth in Western Macedonia. Europe’s first dangerous region is considered to be Central Greece, with 1,576 deaths per million vehicles, and second place is the Peloponnese, where 1,159 people are lost per million vehicles.

Speed ​​and alcohol are the main causes of road accidents. Essentially speed is the main cause. But alcohol, along with speed or other dangerous activities, such as talking on the cell phone or loud music, add to the situation. Alcohol may not be the main cause of the dangers of road traffic accidents, but the overwhelming majority of alcohol-related traffickers are fatal and the most bloody.

Awards – Praises

The fifteen Winners selected by the Judges will be awarded at a special ceremony. The ceremony will take place on Friday, March 20, 2020.

The final selection will result in 15 winners, three winners for each category of the competition. The categories of participants in the contest will be:

  1. University Students Category
  2. Senior Highschool Students Category
  3. Junior Highschool Students Category
  4. Primary School Students Category
  5. Kindergarden Students Category

The prizes of the university students category will be:

  • 1st Video-Clip Award: A 3-day trip to Crete and hospitality in a hotel unit.
  • 1st Audio Message Award: 3-day trip to Crete and hospitality in a hotel unit.
  • 1st Poster Creation Award: 3-day trip to Crete and hospitality in a hotel unit.
  • Of which the dates are determined by the Prize provider.
  • All awards include Special Certificate and free ferry tickets with return from Athens Chania or Heraklion and free accommodation without food at a hotel unit.
  • For the second and third prize of the above categories, certificates will be given.

The 1st prize for the winners of the junior highschool students category will be a certificate and a mobile phone for each project category. For the second and third prize Certificates will be presented.

The 1st prize for the primary school students category will be a certificate and a moped helmet.

The second and third prizes will be presented with certificates. The 1st Prize for the Prize-winners will be A Certificate and a Cycling Helmet. For the second and third prize will be given a certificate.

The 1st prize for the winners of the kindergarden category will be a certificate and a commemorative gift. For the second and third prize will be given a certificate.
